History / Geography

As in other subjects, the Humanities classes are led by the teacher using the microphone (backed up by text, whiteboard and multimedia software).  The students respond with a combination of short written answers, verbal responses, and using our interactive whiteboard.  Frequent dipping into other websites for materials (especially pictures, text, and video-clips) is normal in History and Geography lessons at Briteschool, especially given the geographic location of the students !

Home assignments are set most weeks; these are marked and feedback is given to the student.

Introductory Humanities will be cycled over a two to three year period, covering Geography for up to a term, then History, in rotation.  They will emphasise the diversity of our students on the internet, and people and systems around the world, but with a slightly Eurocentric approach.

The courses will satisfy the main requirements for the Common Entrance Exam and the KS3 in the UK.

Exam Students will be offered both IGCSE Geography and IGCSE History this year.  Students who have already commenced a course similar to the IGCSE will be welcomed, and the course delivery adapted to suit their requirements as far as possible.
